I do my best thinking in the shower. Don’t we all? It’s calming, warm, and a place where you can be alone (or not…). While I was debating on whether or not to wash my hair today (I opted to continue sporting my 4-day dirty hair by the way) I was reminiscing about life before baby and how things have changed…
Remember your life pre-baby? Remember when you had freedom? Remember when you only had to worry about you, yourself and… you? Life before and after baby are so incredibly different and here’s some of the many ways how my life (and probably yours) has changed…
Then – showering was a part of your morning routine.
Now- When you’re trying to remember when you last showered.
Then – When someone tells a joke and you say “I’m gonna pee my pants!!”
Now – When someone tells a joke and you actually pee your pants.
Then – When you’re in the drive-through and happily give your order.
Now – When you’re in the drive through, give your order and cringe when the employee shouts back “SORRY, YOU WANT HOW MANY MILKS IN THAT COFFEE?!” all while you have a sleeping baby in the back seat. SHHHH!!!! P.s… I TAKE MY COFFEE BLACK!!
Then – When you’re grocery shopping and fill your cart by placing everything in it’s category.
Now – When you’re grocery shopping and pack food around your baby who’s sitting in their car seat, in the shopping cart and then run out of room leaving you with no choice but to start stacking tuna cans on top of your baby.
Then – When you’re making plans to go shopping with friends and say…. “I’m free whenever!”
Now – When you’re making plans to go shopping with friends and say “I’m going to put baby down for their nap, feed them, change them and then I’m free…. but only for about 1 hour before they get fussy and need to be fed/changed/put back to sleep.”.
Then – “Caffeine gives me the shakes.”
Now – “I shake when I don’t drink caffeine.”
Then – When you get to leave the house whenever you want.
Now – When the thought of leaving the house gives you the cold sweats.
Then – When you’ve made a delicious new recipe and sit down to enjoy every single bite.
Now – When you’ve made chicken nuggets for dinner and scarf them down while standing up and entertaining your baby on your hip. Your chicken nuggets are cold by the way…. because what mom gets to eat warm chicken nuggets?! The answer is none. NONE!
Then – When you spilt food on yourself before leaving the house and hum and haw about what to change into.
Now – When your baby spits up on you before leaving the house and changing your clothes isn’t even a thought in your mind. There’s a good chance you’ll be spit up on again anyways.
Then – When you were getting compliments on your perfume.
Now – When you’re wearing your new signature fragrance…Eau to Baby Puke.
